As Hockey Week Across America kicks off, Massachusetts youth hockey rinks like the LoConte Rink are set to celebrate by engaging the community with a variety of free events aimed at promoting the sport and inspiring new players.
The annual event highlights hockey at all levels, bringing families, young athletes, and fans together to appreciate the game. The Islanders will mark the occasion with several activities, including:
- Learn to Play sessions for kids new to the sport
- Coaching Development programs to support and educate local coaches
- Public, Community, and Family Skates for fans of all ages to enjoy the ice
LoConte Rink, located 97 Locust St Medford, MA was built in 1974 and operated by the State Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) until 2010 when it was leased to the City of Medford. This full sized hockey rink has a spectator viewing area, lobby, and locker rooms. The rink is home to the Medford Mustangs, along with Medford Youth Hockey and Medford Figure Skating.
